Adult Snowshoes One

I got a new adult cat and he is a scaredy cat!?
I got a new adult about 2-3 years old. He is a BIG lover, sweeet Boy, and gorgeous Snowshoe siamese. I have a 1 year old baby boy and a 4 month old kitten. But my new adult cat Hisses and wont come out of hiding. Doesn't seem to like my other cat and my baby.... he had been declawed on all 4! and neutered before I got him. Could this be one reason why he is scared because he knows he doesn't have a defense mechanism...I know Alot about dogs but not cats...(I have NO dogs) Help ! is this normal ???? any ideas...I have a special room just for him with all his stuff but he hasn't eaten dry or wet food in 3 days!!!!
A new cat is always a stressful situation. I'm actually going through the same thing. We just got a Sphynx cat, and she is terrified of our other cat. We've had them for about 2 months now, and things are getting better. For us, keeping them separate and only letting them interact with supervision and reassurance seems helpful. Also, we have been using a cat pheromone spray we got a petco that helps our new cat calm down. It's very important that they have their own space, separate food, water, and litter, etc. One way to get them accustomed to each other would be to set up a spare room or a bedroom as a cat room. Keep the new cat there for a couple days, then put your babies in there to get used to the smell for a couple days. Keep doing this every few days until they smell each other under the door and seem curious. You can also put one cat in a crate in a public area for a little bit and the other cats can come meet him while they know that cat can't hurt them.
There's tons of info online about how to introduce cats successfully, it just takes a lot of patience and a little work.
