how can i get my computer to boot?
my old motherboard died and i've replace it with a new asus m2n68-am se2 motherboard and added a new asus graphics card as well. i put my old core in (athalon 64 socket 754) and plugged everything in the way the user guide says to but when i turn it on it starts to boot but cuts the bower after a few seconds and nothing ever gets displayed on the screen. i've tried cleaning all the connections and replacing the backup battery. can anyone tell me why this is?
i tested the core and the psu in another computer and they worked fine. does anyone know if there is a problem ithe this model motherboard?
Here is a long guide to find the issue
Reseat you CPU heatsink, if it is unseated then that can cause this issue, also put heatsink solution on, but not too much
Depending on your PSU, it is either a bad PSU, or a short and PSU and shutting off to cut the power to save the comp
I would fist try the PSU on another comp, if it does not work then there you go. If it does, or you do not have a rig to test it with
Disconnect the power from everything but MOBO (20+4 PIN, 4/8 PIN) if you get a beep code of no video card plug the GPU power in, if the comp still does not boot, remove all of your sticks of RAM but the one farthest from your CPU, and take out your GPU, and try to boot again.
If still no go, swtich the sticks of RAM.
And try again.
If still no go
Then you can say with a decent level of certainty that the PSU is bad.
Or the CPU.
These problems are hard to place
Good luck
