Help with fixing skate blade?
I have a pair of bauer vapor XXX skates and the blade on one skate is fairly loose. The lightspeed tuuks that come with it allow you to tighten the blades, but does anyone know what size socket you need to use to do so?
Usually a 1/4 or 5/16 like another guy already said, but make it a deep socket, so the threaded end of the bulb shaped bolt fits up into the socket without bottoming out in the socket. You will also need an extension to put on the wrench to get down into the holder through the foot bed. The access holes are hidden under the removable foot bed pad, and covered with plugs.
Now if you do it yourself, BE SURE you tape the socket to the extension. If the socket falls off inside the holder, you will be going to the pro shop to have the blade holder removed. You will then have to pay to have the rivets put back into place.
The good thing about the lightspeed holders is they are semi transparent, and you can see if you are on the nut to tighten it. They have also taken the front bolt and nut out of the equasion, and replaced it with a hook, and one bolt in the back. It's a hole lot easier.
