Shortwave Antennas & Mobile Antennas?

A quick question --

If I wanted to use a portable shortwave reciever (say a Grundig G5) as a mobile receiver, would I run the risk of burning out the radios inner circuits if I decided to try to use a larger mobile antenna such as a High Sierra HS-1800/Pro Antenna?

Or would this combination in fact work? I'm new to shortwave listening & am looking for the easiest way to listen to all SW bands using my Grundig G5 as a mobile reciever. If this antenna is too powerful, are there any other antennas that will allow me to pick up continuous 3-30 MHz on my Grundig?

Thanks.

unless you are a ham, most people have no clue what a HS1800 is!!!

No, you will not harm the receiver by using a great antenna.

I use the HS Sidekick because I do not have the room on my car to mount the 1800.

All good receivers have AGC - Automatic Gain Control, if you drive past a 50,000 WATT Am broadcast antenna, the AGC will protect the receiver's front end.
