VW Golf TDI 2001 - Alarm Keeps Going Off?
Just started today - alarm keeps going off every 10-20 mins after car is locked. Message advising "luggage compartment open" but showing on dash as one of the doors. Opened and closed both doors and boot a couple of times and everything seems fine. Lock in boot wet. Can anyone help with some advice please?
Does anyone know how I can turn it off/disable it until I can get someone to have a look at it?
check the rear washer jet hose hasn't come loose inside the tailgate,this is a common problem with golfs,what happens when the hose comes loose it sprays water inside the boot lid ,water will work its to the connection for the rear latch and bridges the terminals,this in turn brings on the (luggage compartment open) light on,then when the car is locked the alarm thinks the boot lid is opened.
quickest way to check this is to remove rear parcel shelf and close all doors manually and look to see if the boot light is on,if the light stays on then the latch is faulty.
get someone to pull the boot lid trim off and remove the connection from the latch to disable the alarm for the boot
