SHOULD I BUY THESE SKIS?
I'm looking at buying some Volkl Mantra skis with Marker Jester bindings already mounted on them. However, the pictures of the skis show that the brakes on the Jesters are too narrow for the Mantras... I've heard that there are two different brake widths for the Jesters, the wide ride and the narrower ones. Should I buy these? Can the brakes be widened or will it cost money?
The seller says that the brakes are 90 mm and the skis are 96 mm at the waist, and claims that the bindings fit better when stretched like that (an 1/8" on each side). He says the 110 mm brakes protrude too much from the ski.
Check other prices as well. go to search engines and search for "clearance skis" or something like that. You might find a set that is all set up and ready to go for the same or less and not have to worry about the different widths.
