So I'm about to buy some goggles and can't decide. Both being offered for the same price. The Oakley wisdoms were used a couple times last season and the Giro Basis was used for half a day. Both have persimmon lenses. Can't decide on which is the better goggle. I don't ride with a helmet and I am super pick about goggles staying in place! I don't want an oakley or giro fanboy telling me the company is better, I just want an honest opinion on which goggle would be best for park and mountain. Any help is appreciated!! Thanks!!!

Oakley has been consistently rated the highest in lack of distortion. That's extremely important in that are shaped like the Wisdom and the Basis. The more you wrap a lens, both horizontally (around your head) and vertically (between your nose and forehead), Oakley's HDO lenses are for all intents and purposes optically correct. This is not fan boy speak, Oakley lens technology has been proven superior by independent lab (and government lab) testing.
Why is this important? Well, it plays into eye strain and overall fatigue. If you have lenses that distort your vision, your eyes actually have to work harder to refocus and reposition the image that your brain is receiving. For a few minutes, this isn't bad. Now, imagine bombing down a mountain for 8 -12 hours. Distortion can lead to dizziness, headaches, and nausea.
As for them staying on, both do a fine job. It's all about how you adjust the goggle straps.
If you don't care about visual clarity and being able to see things well, In the end it comes down to how each one fits you.
I've worn a lot of goggles in my lifetime and there is a reason why I'm an "Oakley collector" now.
So yes, I may be a "fan boy", but I'm giving you true valid reasons as to why the O product is superior.
