Alright, since I'm taking a few dance tests later on in the summer, and I've just gone up a cup size, I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether I should go for a strapless bra, or anything that will not be easily seen under a low-backed dress.
My cup size is B, and I don't feel like I should just not wear anything underneath. Any suggestions? Anything reccomendations?
You can find specialty undergarments made especially for "us" at dance and skating sites. They are designed to stay hidden as much as possible underneath/with our "costumes" (clear straps, nude color, no undergarment lines ) and so you can move around in them freely. On that note, nude is the best color to go under any color fabric to stay hidden.
Whatever you choose, make sure you test it out with your dress(es) before your test date . . . so there are no surprises! Depending on your costume, you may need to make little adjustments to the undergarment - best to figure that stuff out beforehand so that's one less thing to deal with!
You should feel comfortable with what you're wearing - so if you feel you need to wear something underneath, then do! I was fine with not wearing an undergarment with certain dresses - and I am not "small". If the dress I had was of thick dark material and was tight (or had lots of decor in front), it actually supported "me" (squished them - hee hee). If I didn't have to worry about things popping out when I bent down or through the arm pit area . . . or if the fabric was fine that it didn't "rub" me, then I was ok with it (I also asked opinions from my coach and honest friends). Like I said, test it out for sure . . . and do what is comfortable for you.
Sometimes dresses come with a shelf bra (built in) - if it has one then it isn't necessary to wear another bra.
