I got brand new first skates like 3-4 weeks ago. Bladerunner/Rollerblade Solstice Ice Skates (the only white ones there.) Yesterday I was told that my skates are cheapos, by a substitute ice skating teacher. ($50) I'm just wondering when to get new skates. Because I don't think my mom wants to buy new ones, because I just got new ones recently. So, when would be a good time to get new skates. I have a Alpha test on Saturday. I have class once a week, and each session is around 6-7 weeks. So, when would be a good time to get new skates? Thanks!~ I am a 13 year old girl, and I love to ice skate.
Honestly, you shouldn't really be worried about whether you have "cheap" skates at Alpha or Beta.. I actually used rental skates until Delta. 
Start worrying 1) once you get to Delta or FS1 (when you do start jumping and spinning), 2) if you can feel you're outgrowing the skates or your toes start to get pinched in the toe box or 3) if you wind up breaking down all the ankle support in the boots and your ankles feel wobbly no matter how tightly you lace the skates. You'll wish you could pay for the cheapo skates in a few years when you're replacing your skates annually because you're doing Axels/double/triple jumps and actually need a sturdy pair of boots ($300-600+ for the boots) that can take the abuse.
